Please support “Doctors Without Borders” and the relief efforts in Japan! Your ‘thank you’ song here…

March 12, 2011

Woke up this morning and meant to write a different post.

But this it would be. I turned toward the news channel and my heart broke in just one single second. Throughout the course of the day the idea grew to somehow ‘do’ something.

A few days back I wrote the lyrics to this song, not yet knowing what this would be for, wrote it, put it aside as I do with so much.
Throughout the day the idea was born to support one relief effort. I wrote this song and quickly recorded it. (forgive some rough spots, sorry)

We, The Major Love Prayer and myself would like to kindly ask you to support “Doctors Without Borders/Medecins Sans Frontieres” who are currently trying to reach the worst hit areas with support teams.
Due to flooding MSF is trying to use helicopters and will coordinate further relief efforts after an initial assessment.

We’re hoping to have a video up soon and kindly ask for you to support this organization in their quest to help in the worst hit areas. We have nothing to sell to you- but we would like you to consider a direct donation to “Doctors Without Borders” since efforts like these deserve support. And THANK YOU! (hoping to have a video up by the end of the day)

>How to make a (tax deductible) direct donation: -have a look at their website!

Prayer For Relief

Nightfall gently rolls
Spilling waterfalls
Waters crashing still
Over every hill.

Castles in the sky
Your ballroom’s safe for you to fly
Mirrors everywhere
And his music that is floating here and there.

Thanks for flying with me
No emergency exits anywhere on board
Thanks for flying with me
No emergency exits anywhere

Hands surrounding him
Gently tending now to him
Feet no longer his
On his toes he’ll twist

Wash away the tears
Dare to share all dreams and fears
And fall asleep at last
And a lullaby I’ll sing you real fast.

Nightfall and some relief
Dimly lit sights they now see
Over rolling hills
And the peace
And the peace
And the peace
That it spills
E pace mio dolce cuore
E pace mio tesoro
Friede, Friede, Friede, mein Herz
Und Friede, Friede und Friede mein Herz!

    Hi Irina,

For a song with so-called rough spots it’s a pretty darn good song! The lyrics are stunning too.
I hope it’s okay that I repost this in the positive websites thread with a link to your blog of course, and naturally I will do what you asked and make a donation to Doctors Without Borders. Thank you for helping through your music!
    Love,
    Elmira

Elmira, thanks for supporting this campaign! We’re hoping to reach many, many more people through MLP later on as well. Already circulating it in many places as well. Please feel free to re-post wherever you think it appropriate, I appreciate your help!

Hopefully we’ll keep the momentum going. BeGodsGlow is probably sleeping right now, lol, she was up forever putting the video together.

    Thanks for helping with this!

Just donated to them! ( I’ll post the link on my facebook page then too)
The video is very gripping but how could it not be. Thank you BeGodsGlow for putting together a powerful video! And thanks of course Irina for letting me post it on MJJc, finished that now too. I hope people will act on it – random acts of kindness is what the world needs

Thank you, Elmira! Just in 2 days alone we’ve reached more people with this than I dared to hope! Just the ‘shared’ clicks through social networking sites alone are great to watch and BeGodsGlow reported many, many outgoing clicks through the Major Love Prayer- people that went directly to ‘Doctors Without Border’. The Major Love Prayer had a great number of views just in a few short hours, if only half the people donated just a tiny bit- then I consider that a success.

On a personal note, I wrote the latter half of the lyrics from the perspective of a child in rubbles, waiting for help and I asked repeatedly for such miracles- and this morning I woke up to find the story of one such rescued little baby girl who finally made it into the arms of her father.
I was inundated with strange blurbs of someone who was struck in the head by something like a headboard- it is wonderful to hear of the miraculous rescue of a child!
